Position

The name Aya is ancient and has crossed the boundaries of geography, language, and ethnicity throughout the centuries. The meaning we identify with is the one in the Japanese language: design, colorful, beautiful.

Location

Aya Estate Vineyards manages 35 hectares of vineyards in the Melnik region, a large portion of which are over 50 years old. The hilly terrain is located at an altitude of 250-330 meters, with the vineyards predominantly facing south.
We are proud to be the guardians of the endemic grape variety of the region—Wide Melnik—and we cultivate it in the most respectful way, following the principles of biodynamic farming.

Climate

We are located in the southwesternmost point of Bulgaria, where the climate is continental-Mediterranean: dry and warm summers, mild winters. A warm breeze flows in from the Aegean Sea, while cool currents descend from the surrounding mountains and the Melnik rock pyramids, creating temperature fluctuations between day and night. These conditions help the grapes retain the crucial freshness and aromas.

Soil

The soils are highly sandy with a significant percentage of limestone and low humus content, displaying the characteristic yellowish color typical of the Melnik region.
