Position
In the Danubian Plain, in Northeastern Bulgaria, near the seaside, our predominantly white grape varieties thrive. Thanks to the terroir, they transform into fresh and mineral wines.
Location
Our vineyards at the Black Sea location are situated in the municipality of Kavarna, 3 km from the coast. The terrain is flat, at an altitude of approximately 130 meters. This is also the first vineyard we planted, which we care for using biodynamic methods and take great pride in.

Climate
The mild winters, warm summers, and proximity to the coastline create optimal conditions for winemaking. The Kavarna vineyards of Zia benefit from the breezes and the temperature fluctuations between day and night. This is where our freshest and most elegant wines come from.

Soil
The predominantly chernozem soils in the area are exceptionally rich in nutrients, promoting rapid growth and abundant yields in the vineyards. We carefully control the quantity and quality of the grapevine material, ensuring that the plants are not overburdened.
The low yields allow us to produce wines of high quality, concentration, and extract.
Varieties
We have planted grape varieties that are well-suited to the climate and soils of the Black Sea region: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Petit Manseng, and Pinot Noir. Our chief agronomist at Zia has known and cared for the vineyards since their planting and continues to do so today.
The Kavarna vineyard is the primary source of grapes for our white series, Colorito, as well as our Pinot Noir.
