Architecture & Art
The beginning of our story begins with the clear vision that art is not just artistic expression, but rather creation. That's why we created a place where art and wine live together.
Inspired by the rich history and traditions of the Melnik region, the founders of Aya Estate Vineyards transformed the estate into a wine and cultural center. With a passion for art and deep roots in viticulture, they created a space that brings together creators and connoisseurs alike..
Our first exhibitions will showcase works by local artists inspired by the region. Over time, we will broaden our horizons, drawing inspiration from and collaborating with international artists.
Our art spaces will serve as a stage for a variety of cultural events.
Art and wine are inseparable elements of our lives, and everything we do is based on the belief that both are profound expressions of culture and a way of life.
We are delighted to share our philosophy with everyone who steps through the doors of Aya Estate Vineyards.
Architecture
The architectural design of AYA Estate Vineyards, by WhATA, embodies the philosophy of the place – harmony with nature, respect for tradition and modern sustainability. Set on three levels, the winery is a spatial and emotional experience – from the Zen garden to the barrel room, where light, texture and volume are reminiscent of a cathedral. An elegant balance between industrial functionality and aesthetics, the concept allows for the gravitational process of winemaking with minimal intervention. Here, the architecture tells a story of time, place and the eternal art of wine.
Art installations
Dome
In her artwork, artist Iv Toshain creates a unique altar in the most essential space of any winery—the fermentation hall. This is the place where wine comes to life, where its journey begins. With her piece, the artist captures the essence of this sacred moment of creation.
Creeping Nuances
Austrian artist Marianne Lang is the first to leave her artistic mark within the spaces of Aya Estate Vineyards. An entire wall in the winery's bistro—spanning over 25 square meters—has been transformed into a monumental drawing. Directly on the surface of the wall, a complex weave of leaves and branches comes to life under the artist's hand. Crawling vines envelop the wall, each with its own unique shape and texture
Outer Light
Marta Djurina's work is displayed above the reception desk at the entrance of the winery. The piece combines a photographic collage, abstraction, and colorful plexiglass. Djurina’s creative process explores the technical possibilities of photography, pushing the boundaries of the medium.
The Eye
This artwork emphasizes the philosophy and aesthetics of the building, which follows the natural curves of the land and is in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape. It was specially created and inspired by the structure of Aya Estate Vineyards.
Spectral Sea
The installation combines science, technology and art, immersing viewers in winemaking's microbiological processes and natural cycles.
AYA Doodles
The barrel room is a sacred space in our winery. It is where we store the finest wines, crafted by our team with love and dedication. For this reason, we decided to invite a special artist, one who holds a significant place in Bulgarian art and enjoys global recognition—Nedko Solakov.
Talismans and Totems
The landscape in front of AYA and Ethel Adnan's quote: "There is no system for perceiving the landscape. Its randomness is the secret" inspired Rudy to name his installation "Tamils and Totems", connecting it not only with the artistic, but also with the mystical and symbolic.
Water Hedgehog
The work continues the artist’s long - standing practice of transforming familiar objects to reveal new meanings and perspectives.
Linea Viva
The light installation is inspired by the organic structure of the vine and its invisible movements through time and space.
